Bempton is a village and civic parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated about 4 miles north of Bridlington and lies on the B1229 road between Speeton and Flamborough. With a population of around 1,000 residents it is served by Bempton railway station which is on the Yorkshire Coast line that runs between Hull and Scarborough. Bempton is well known for its spectacular cliffs and breathtaking views. Recently the village was featured in the 2016 feature film remake of ‘Dad’s Army’. Bempton Cliffs is an RSPB nature reserve, best know for its breeding seabirds, including Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Black-legged Kittiwake and Fulmar.
Bempton parish church St Michael, a Grade ll listed building dating back to the 13th century and located in the centre of the village. Amenities include a post office/general store, hairdressers, antique shop, snooker hall, garage, Primary School, public house/restaurant, holiday accommodations and a modern community hall. In Buckton there is a delightful tea room, art gallary and holiday accommodations.
